SLATE-LITE® has been developed and patented by the German Company R&D GmbH after 25 years of experience in the sector. With SLATE-LITE® we open a new range of opportunities through technological innovation, allowing new applications in natural stone previously unimaginable. We can provide technical advice to architects and builders in any application, which added to the 30-year warranty, gives renovation and tranquility, double satisfaction for our customers.
There are three models of SLATE-LITE®: STANDARD FR, TRANSLUCENT and ECO STONE / STONE SPECIAL ECO.
STANDARD SLATE-LITE ® FR is a 1 mm natural slate veneer, with a backing layer of fiberglass and resin, which provides strength, flexibility and dimensional stability to the sheet. It is an extremely light, thin and versatile material, with only 1.5 kg/ sqm. Its easy installation makes it perfect for refurbishing, since its application prevents debris build. It’s only required having a clean and smooth surface to be applied.
Also used in furniture design, some of the leading brands in the furniture market have already incorporated SLATE-LITE® into their designs, thanks to its ease of cutting and the possibility of pressing onto different surfaces: wood, chipboard, MDF, HDF...
Ephemeral architecture, signs, mobile homes, office partitions or ventilated facades are just a few examples where SLATE-LITE® STANDARD FR can be used. SLATE-LITE® is available in 21 colors, distinguishing between matt and shiny colors. The standard size is 61x122 cm, although some colors can reach 251x105 cm, suitable for use in the manufacture of furniture.
SLATE-LITE® STANDARD FR will obtain during July 2011 the Fire Test Certificate, according to the European reaction to fire classification: C-s2-d0. It doesn’t exist another 1 mm slate veneer according to the CODIGO TÉCNICO DE LA EDIFICACIÓN rules regarding the basic requirements in safety in case of fire.
SLATE-LITE® TRANSLUCENT is a natural slate veneer with a backing layer of transparent resin that provides resistance and stiffness. The sheets are available in thicknesses of 2 or 5 mm. With SLATE-LITE® TRANSLUCENT the light passes through the stones; we enter into a new dimension in the interior design and decoration on items such as screens, spotlights, skylights... The effect is striking! This product is available in matt colors, with a standard size of 61x122 cm, although some colors may reach 240 x 90 cm.
SLATE-LITE® ECO STONE / SLATE-LITE® SPECIAL ECO STONE are natural slate extra thin sheets of only 0.2 mm thickness; extremely flexible and lightweight, its weight is only 250 gr/sqm. SLATE-LITE® ECO STONE is manufactured with a backing layer of cotton and SLATE-LITE® SPECIAL ECO STONE is manufactured with a backing layer of mineral fibers, achieving thereby a totally organic material.
Very easy to apply, its laying method in smooth walls is similar to any vinyl panel, although its features permits to cover any imaginable surface, such as car interiors, upholstery, packaging, aeronautics...
