The 2009 edition of ZonaTortona closes with an excellent response from the critics and the public. Seven days of energy and positive atmosphere that will leave a significant mark in the history of ZonaTortona.

Statistics from this edition consolidate and exceed those of 2008, confirming ZonaTortona Design as an essential appointment for the international design community.

The following figures prove the excellent performance of ZonaTortona Design:

107,809 visitors registered, against the 88,000 of the 2008 edition to whom should be added those visitors who did not register. A significant increase of +22.5% was registered in the public that attended, despite the current economic crisis.

1,153 registered journalists, against 1,050 in the 2008 edition.

  • 70% of participants came from abroad, from 50 different countries around the world. This confirms ZonaTortona as an international event.
  • 90 exhibition spaces involved
  • 40,000 square meters of set up against 35,000 of the 2008 edition.

ZonaTortona 2009 was distinguished by innovative exhibitions, cutting edge products and new concepts.

Underlining the international nature of ZonaTortona, the extraordinary percentage of visitors from abroad included numerous foreign commissions. Around ten governmental delegations, coming mainly from Europe and Asia, visited ZonaTortona’s official circuit, showing great interest in the event itself as well as the impact it generates in the vicinity.

Moreover, different International Design Weeks chose ZonaTortona as the platform for the promotion of their own events and many foreign countries have invited ZonaTortona to export its format abroad.

The uniqueness of ZonaTortona Design is given by the fact that it involves many actors in the territory and by the spirit of collaboration between them.

During its seven days, ZonaTortona was characterized by its “day and night” soul: during the day it registered a constant flow of buyers and operators. In the evenings it attracted a large public of design enthusiasts, interested in visiting the exhibitions and in enjoying a moment of leisure and entertainment.

ZonaRomana, the new area of Milan city involved for the first time in ZonaTortona Design, registered a great success, hosting interesting content projects such as statuStories – the temporary concept store dedicated to design – that registered numerous visits from the public, strong sales and which received 6 proposals from other cities around the world hoping to replicate its format abroad.

There were also excellent results for Zclub – the private after dinner club, which hosted live performances from renowned international designers such as Karim Rashid, Barnaba Fornasetti and FRONT.

Moreover, ZonaTortona closes its eighth edition with many bookings for 2010.

Maurizio Ribotti, CEO of DesignPartners, the company that organizes ZonaTortona, states “We consider this edition as the most successful in the history of ZonaTortona, especially if one considers the global economic crisis.
