An annual export volume of 14.3 million EUR, makes Russia one
of the most important markets for Spanish lighting manufacturers. Especially the fields of decorative
lighting and LED-based lighting are attractive growth markets.
As in 2010, the organizer of INTERLIGHT MOSCOW expects great interest in the presentation of Spanish
lighting at Russia’s leading trade fair for decorative lighting, technical lighting and home & building
automation. |

Spanish exports to Russia: an increase of 7.7 %
Russia has imported lighting technologies worth 14.3 million EUR from Spain in 2010. This is an increase of 7.7 % compared to 2009. Thus, Russia takes the fifth place in Spain’s export ranking after
France, Portugal, Germany and Italy. For the years to come a further rise of Spanish exports can be
expected, as Russia’s economy keeps growing and Spain is actively promoting trade with Russia within
the context of the “Russia-Spain-Year 2011.”
Growth markets: decorative lighting and LED
Especially in the fields of premium decorative lighting Spanish manufacturers have best business
prospects: Russians love the exclusive. An avant-garde of affluent business people orders Western
lighting and tailor-made individual lighting concepts for their villas and cottages. But what is more
important: they are trend-setters for the middle class which also shows growing interest in design and
innovation from the West. Their income, too, is rising.
The Russian LED market is experiencing dynamic growth (+ 20 – 30 %). So far, Russia imports 98 % of
its annual demand (approx. 60 million EUR). Especially innovative technologies and high-class design
will be much in demand. LED-based street and outdoor lighting is needed for infrastructure and for
projects related to the Olympic Games (2014) and the Football World Cup (2018).
