2012 Designers of the year
The Campana brothers - Maison&Objet designers
In the eighties, Humberto founded a small studio of handmade products. An architect graduate, Fernando took an interest in alternative methods of materialising designs. In late 1983, they started to work together. This partnership has become one of the most famous in contemporary design
|
. They are recognised for their way of suggesting new codes, of "reading" objects and for their contribution to a new outlook to daily life. The first Campana brothers exhibition took place in 1989 at the Nucleon Gallery in Sao Paulo. The "Desconfortáveis" (uncomfortable) iron chair collection: a selection of pieces that call into question art, error and poetry present in discomfort. In 2001, Humberto and Fernando Campana won the Special Prize of the Museum da Casa Brasiliera (Brazilian home museum) and were appointed Designers of the Year in Miami in 2008 before winning the 2012 MAISON&OBJET designer of the year award. |

Hubert le Gall – Créateur scènes d’intérieur
A trained artist, Hubert le Gall (born 1961) designs furniture that is sculpture and objects whose functional nature is erased by the charm of narrative or abstract form. "His approach consists in revisiting and giving new meaning to furniture and decorative art" writes Elisabeth Delacarte, director of the Avant-Scène, the Parisian showcase of his work. He models materials such as bronze, plaster, resin, wood, glass or ceramics to invent an original animal-furniture collection or plant poetic seeds designed to populate the loveliest interiors. His flower tables are iconic as are his lamps without feet that so effectively express his taste for illusion and deviation. This taste combines with humour and exalts an emotional relationship to objects to which he gives soul. Free expression of an independent designer that plays with fantasy and deviation, but also lines and colours, full and half strokes, presence and void. An artist and scenographer of major exhibitions, Hubert le Gall is now the Scènes d'Intérieur 2012 designer of the year. This recognition celebrates his ability to "drastically chase everyday space", explains Elisabeth Delacarte. This ability embodies the very spirit of Scènes d'intérieur exhibition dedicated, right from its very beginnings, to the magicians of interior decoration, of whom he is the master.

The FIL VERT itinerary
Launched by MAISON&OBJET, the “Fil Vert” itinerary aims to identify exhibitors in a sustainable development logic. For that, MAISON&OBJET organisers have called on a "partner jury", fine connoisseurs in the field, benefiting from a legitimate and independent standpoint: the media, represented in particular by Prima Maison, Maison Française, Néoplanète…
January - September 2011: Green Attitude permeates throughout MAISON&OBJET.
A fundamental movement, parallel to general corporate empowerment, the "Green Attitude", embodied by this "Fil Vert" covers economies of means (materials, transport, energy consumption), eco-responsibility (with 100% recyclable products, eco-design (linked to innovation and creation approaches) and eco-communication (enhancement of a sustainable development approach). Consumers now consider the purchasing act as an expression of their individual convictions and demand more transparency. It is important for MAISON&OBJET exhibitors to uphold approaches adopted, favour the development of responsible behaviour. As of January 2012, MAISON&OBJET sets up permanent labelling for each selected exhibitor.

L’Espace Retail. Hall 5B
The retail world needs to adapt to more demanding, informed and volatile consumers and changes in consumer and purchasing resources (rise of e-commerce and m-commerce). To help deal with these issues, MAISON&OBJET has imagined the Retail space, dedicated to new retail layout solutions. Launched during the previous session, in the form of a didactic exhibition, the Retail space is back in January, in partnership with the AKDV agency, with new proposals to reinvent the point of sale and re-enchant the customer: 16 different ways to give value to an outlet and products according to its identity or through new technology which is currently revolutionising the way products are sold and promoted. A range of suggestions specifically designed for the MAISON&OBJET exhibition, whose methodology is explained in another part of the area, where everyone is invited to exchange with shop-fitting experts.

PARIS DES CHEFS, for its fourth session, will be held from 22nd to 24th January 2012, at the Mutualité, in the heart of Paris.
It is the turn of PARIS DES CHEFS to meet the French and international public. An event open to the general public and organised since its creation in 2009 at the Paris Nord Villepinte exhibition is organised for the first time this year in the theatre of the Maison de la Mutualité at the heart of Paris.
MAISON&OBJET thus takes a new step in sharing the home-style phenomenon even more broadly. A cultural phenomenon no longer confined to decoration alone but which encompasses all the expressions of the art of living, including gastronomy.
Proof is given by the PARIS DES CHEFS programme that proposes encounters between the greatest international chefs and designers from all backgrounds to celebrate the circulation of influences and bubbling of ideas that MAISON&OBJET has always fostered.
For its fourth session, PARIS DES CHEFS, the MAISON&OBJET event pre-empting new approaches to gastronomic creativity, arrives in the heart of Paris. In the illustrious Théâtre de la Mutualité, a key venue in the capital, built in 1930 and recently renovated by Jean-Michel Wilmotte, the cooking event of early 2012 clearly expresses its originality and the wealth of its concept.
|
|
Organised by SAFI, within the framework of the international MAISON&OBJET exhibition, PARIS DES CHEFS aims to showcase gateways between the art of cooking and the different fields of creativity. Since the event was set up in 2009, the top names and the most promising talents in French and international gastronomy have come to dialogue with architects, designers, artists and photographers in order to highlight the increasingly strong transfers of inspiration between these disciplines.

After Inaki Aizpitarte & Anne Xiradakis, Mauro Colagreco & Marcelo Joulia, Kobe Desramaults & Antoine Van Loocke, Pierre Gagnaire & Rip Hopkins, Alexandre Gauthier & Stéphane Bureaux, Pierre Hermé & matali crasset, Guy Martin & Christophe Pillet, Thierry Marx & Sybille de Margerie, Yoshihiro Narisawa & Takanori Nakamura, Magnus Nilsson & Christian Kjellvander, Michel Troisgros & Patrick Bouchain, Davide Scabin & Oliviero Toscani, to mention just a few..., more than 20 new chef and designer duos, from all backgrounds, will demonstrate tasty and simmering exchanges of ideas at La Mutualité, to stimulate contemporary gastronomy. Gourmet dialogues which, from year to year, produce surprising discoveries and nurture fruitful partnerships like the one forged between Jean-François Piège and India Mahdavi, who, following their meeting at PARIS DES CHEFS, imagined the decor of the Thoumieux restaurant and hotel together.
PARIS DES CHEFS is:
- a Show: "PARIS DES CHEFS - Live"
Duos of French and international chefs and designers, composed with the help of Nicolas Chatenier of the Peacefulchef agency, will prepare culinary performances and demonstrations on the theme of "Peaux et Surfaces" (Skins and Surfaces") which will be presented by Julie Andrieu, journalist and TV presenter, and Andrea Petrini, journalist and culinary critic. "Peaux et Surraces": a promising subject, an invitation to a sensory, sensitive and concrete journey on path leading us along that delicate frontier approached by all creative fields

An exhibition area dedicated to the discovery of new products in the field of gastronomy, fine groceries, kitchen utensils, cookery books and encounters with their authors, pop-up stores, etc.
