HOTEL PUERTA AMÉRICA, A UNIQUE PROJECT IN THE WORLD
With an investment of 75 million euros, the hotel will open its doors
to the public in May.
Madrid, 19 January 2005.- The Silken Hotel Group (a business venture by the companies Escampa and the Hotel Group Urvasco S.A) has presented the Hotel Puerta America project this morning, which has brought together, for the first time in history, eighteen architects and designers of international standing to create a space that will fire the imagination and stir the senses of visitors. Alberto Ruiz Gallardón, the mayor of Madrid, has pulled the lever to reveal the hotel façade decorated with passages from the poem “Liberty” by Paul Eluard.
Various government and business leaders attended the public presentation of the project. As president of the Group explained, “the Hotel Puerta America is a dream come true. A project where acclaimed architects and designers have conveyed their dreams to us. It is a homage to the world of architecture, design and to the freedom”.
Created by an international team of eighteen architects and designers, this project is the first multicultural hotel in Spain, with an investment estimated at 75 million euros.
A different architect/interior designer of international standing has been commissioned to create each floor of the hotel, giving free rein to their creativity in the development of the rooms and floor as a whole.
The Hotel Puerta América will have 360 rooms (30 rooms per floor) and 644 parking spaces, with a total surface area of 34 thousand square metres. The junior suites will be located on either side of each floor (sitting room, bedroom and two bathrooms). There will also be 12 suites on the 12th floor.
The hotel is planned to open at the beginning of May of this year.
