Original, Spanish design in the next edition of Feria Habitat Valencia
3 de Agosto de 2010
The novelties of Spain’s most international design will be on show in Valencia
The central area of the Red Zone (Pavilion 6) will be an area for exhibitions, for meetings and for the most avant-garde Spanish design events during the next edition of Feria Hábitat Valencia (FHV). A shared area measuring 3000 m2 will be occupied by 22 leading firms where design novelties in the fields of furniture, lighting, home textiles and decorative complements will be presented. The FHV will take place between 28th September and 2nd October.
This central area will become a meeting point where businesspeople, designers and distributors from Spain and elsewhere will come together to exchange their knowledge, proposals and opportunities. Furthermore, the Red Zone will be divided into different areas where different innovating encounter formulae will take place such as the speed datings (rapid encounters) among the design editors and the designers, bloggers and leading opinions, talk shows and live interviews. These lines of action are organized and collaborated by Valencia Design Week and ADCV (Interior Decorators Association of the Valencian Community).
Among the other novel aspects, Inbani will present its new Ka and Structure bathroom collections designed by Francesc Rifé and Arik Levy, respectively. Gan will offer Patricia Urquiola’s new manga rugs and pouffes, who has also designed novelties for the firm Viccarbe such as the Tiers tables which will be on show during FHV. Expormim will present its new collection designed by Mut Design, while Sancal will offer its new flower-look benches by Toyo Ito.
Red table encounters
The Red work table will be used to conduct encounters for business missions, bloggers and the press, design committees etc. Some scheduled encounters will take place under firms’ invitation/registration which will bring their designers to offer presentations or to conduct workshops, and the Valencia Design Week will do the same within its proposals for invited persons.
While this table is free, anyone can use it to meet or work individually, to sit down, read catalogues, send e-mails, etc. This table will have 30 seats by ABR which were custom-made by designers and creators under Luis Eslava’s direction, courtesy of Hat Gallery. (See chairs at www.designboom.com).
Among the activities scheduled for these encounters, a master class will be given by the director of Hospitality Design, Michell Finn, about how to address the Contract Hospitality sector at an international level.
On the other hand, Tres Tintas will organize the encounter with young talent who will personally present their portfolio as potential signatories of their wallpapers. Nani Marquina and Martin Ruiz de Azúa will offer a session about a very special material, felt, and Sancal will invite people to drink tea with this firm’s designers in honour of its ‘Te’ model.
Other participative activities in the Red Zone
RS Barcelona is organizing the RedRS#2 Championship, a table football tournament open to both exhibitors and invited persons in relation to the table football models the firm has designed.
The new Oru easy chair, designed by Ramon Esteve for Joquer, will possibly be a prize for some of the visitors to the installations to be discovered in the Red Zone.
These 22 firms form Red, the Spanish Design Firms Association, a young association whose priorities include promoting the internationalization of the Spanish habitat sector’s design quality.
