– Carpentry Expo puts the focus on carpentry and joinery trades
– Sustainability of wood resources also a key issue in Brazil
FEMADE 2010 – International Fair for the Forestry, Furniture and Wood Industries – takes place from 24 to 28 May 2010 in Curitiba/Brazil. Hannover Fairs Sulamérica Ltda, a subsidiary of Deutsche Messe AG, is organizing the event for the first time. FEMADE continues to have the support of the previous organizers, the Industry Association for Woodworking Machinery Manufacturers organized within the Brazilian Machinery and Equipment Manufacturers Association (Abimaq – Associação Brasileira da Indústria de Maquinas e Equipamentos).
Approx. 100 exhibitors will be taking part in the sixth FEMADE
(2008: 70), which will occupy a net display area of 5,200 square metres (2008: 3,175). Numerous leading Brazilian companies will be represented, as well as foreign exhibitors from twelve countries, including China, Argentina, Finland, Germany and Italy. Several prominent organizations will also be taking part, including the Spanish association AFEMMA and the Columbian woodworking machine industry association ACOPI.
Various sectors will be featured at FEMADE, including the forestry sector, which embraces the requisite machinery and equipment (on the open-air site), tools, accessories, transport, storage and logistics, information systems and the display “Energy from Wood”. The wood industry will be represented by exhibitors from the solid wood processing sector, the wood products and veneer production sectors, as well as impressive displays of plant and workshops for industrial furniture production. The woodcrafts sector will include machines, equipment and accessories for carpenters and joiners.
The organizers expect CARPENTRY EXPO to be one of the highlights of FEMADE 2010. This special event is geared to the carpentry and joinery trades, as well as the reselling of machines, raw materials, hardware and equipment for this sector of the industry. The objective of the event is to facilitate business leads, stimulate growth across the industry and provide an opportunity to exchange knowledge and information on the latest technology. The special display will showcase solutions and concepts that reflect the role of DIY stores, finance services, architects and designers in this business sector. Constantly changing demands of consumers and of the market as a whole necessitate flexible branch-specific software solutions. The flexibility, variation and individuality achieved in the increasingly complex industrial production of wood furniture poses a huge challenge to standard production software. The CARPENTRY EXPO is not only a platform for products, equipment and solutions for carpentry. It will also recreate an assembly line for live demonstrations of furniture production. At the end of the show the resulting products will be donated to a charity.
On 24 May 2010 the German politician Albert Dess, a member of the European Parliament’s Committee on Agriculture and spokesperson on agriculture for the European People’s Party fraction, will open the two-day seminar “The Sustainable Use of Wood”. In addition to the necessary preservation of natural resources and sustainable practices in the industrial use of wood, the program will centre on environment-friendly products. There will also be full discussion of new regulations and practices within the woodworking industry, including the gains and benefits of certified products. Another focus will be placed on the opportunities for recycling waste wood and leftover wood products.
The seminar “Sustainable Use of Wood” affords a valuable platform for discussion and the exchange of information on the Brazilian wood and forestry industries.
As of September 2011 FEMADE will take place regularly every two years.
